At the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) we are deeply committed to reducing our environmental impacts through our sustainable business practices. This is fundamental to the daily operations of the Centre.
We have introduced wide ranging initiatives including the introduction of a tailor made carbon calculator delivering our clients the opportunity to measure and manage the environmental footprint of their events.
Major Green Initiatives:
- Retro fit of the Centre’s escalators to sensor mode resulting in 30% reduction in escalator energy usage
- Purchase of Green Power for the Centre’s Administration Offices saving 103 tonnes of Co2 emissions each year
- Purchase of a Bio Bin, an organic waste management and compost system reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill and used for compost or as a fuel source for green power generation

Our quest for sustainability is strategically driven from within the Centre by our Environmental Task Force, with our operationally based Green Team at the forefront of changes to BCEC technology and operations.
The Centre’s Reduce, Reuse and Recycle program has assisted in reducing the environmental impact of the Centre’s operations.
