Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre's social responsibility program is a key initiative of its overall commitment to sustainability. It is also one of a number of work practices that encourage a balance between work, family and community.
Managed by a Community Cabinet, comprising staff members from across all departments, the centre piece of our CSR activities is a very active Community Engagement Program, which encourages our people to have a positive social impact on the local and wider communities.
Major components of the Program include:
- Volunteering by staff members for community service days
- Pathways to Work, a program fostering training and employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians at the Centre
- Sharing our Resources - a surplus equipment and food donations program
- Community Discount Program where BCEC provides discounted event services for community organisations
- Give as you Earn, the Centre's payroll giving initiative allowing staff to donate directly to the charity of their choice through payroll deduction
The Centre continues to be a strong supporter of Foodbank, providing more than 30,000 packaged meals to the organisation to help feed Brisbane’s homeless.
