RTO
BCEC is one of a few convention centres to be an accredited Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
RTO status enables the Centre to offer staff nationally accredited training programs in Food & Beverage, Audio Visual and Housekeeping in a working environment as part of their employment, making BCEC a preferred employer of choice in the Hospitality Industry.

 

Department Profiles

 

Food & Beverage

The Food & Beverage Department is responsible for providing a world class Food & Beverage product and delivering service excellence to all guests who visit BCEC and includes:

  • F&B Services
  • Kitchen
  • Stewarding
  • Cellar

Housekeeping
The presentation of the Centre and the comfort and convenience of guests is paramount. The Centre's housekeeping staff is responsible for both back and front of house.
 
Facilities Management
Facilities Management ensures our building operates effectively and efficiently and includes:

  • Building Services
  • Security
  • Car Parking
  • Safety

Administration (Finance, Human Resources and Marketing) 

 

Finance
The Finance Department keeps the business side of the Centre functioning and ensures the Centre complies with all its business and legal obligations. Finance is responsible for control of all the assets in the building, purchasing, payroll, staff rostering, information technology, graphics and signage.
 
Human Resources
The Human Resources Department is responsible for all areas of human resource management including recruitment, training and development, employee relations and industrial relations and the uniform room.

 

Marketing

The Marketing Department's role is to create a strong, positive image and profile for BCEC both externally and internally and involves a number of activities including all forms of communication, publicity, promotion, trade shows, hosted events, site inspections and media and public relations.

 

Audio Visual
We operate one of the largest audio visual and event production operations in Queensland with a very large and diverse equipment inventory to cater for all needs. Staff are involved in the following specialty areas -

  • Audio
  • Vision
  • Lighting
  • Rigging
  • Technical (IT)

Sets

This section attends to room set ups, planning tables and furniture, building shell schemes for exhibitions and readying the Great Hall for basketball games and concerts.

 

Event Sales

Our sales teams are responsible for the area of business development and securing events from local, state, national and international markets. Our sales teams consist of managers, researchers and administrative support.
 

Our Event Planning Managers and assistants work closely with BCEC clients in the planning and staging of all events working towards outcomes for clients beyond expectations. Event Planning Managers are also responsible for repeat business.

 

Client Services

Our team of Client Services people delivers a comprehensive range of business related services for clients through a dedicated Client and Visitors Services Centre. The team includes:

  • Ushers
  • Ticket sellers
  • Floor coordinators
  • Information Desk staff
