Departmental Profiles

The Centre currently employs 695 full time and casual staff across a wide range of departments.
It is our view that every department shares equal responsibility for and is equally critical to achieving our goals.

Food & Beverage

Winner of 47 catering awards, the Food & Beverage Department is responsible for providing a world-class Food & Beverage product and delivering service excellence to all guests who visit BCEC. Our Food & Beverage staff and our team of internationally and locally trained and experienced chefs are well supported by our pantry hands and stewarding staff.

 

Audio Visual

 We operate one of the largest audio visual and event production operations in Queensland with a very large and diverse equipment inventory to cater for all needs. Staff members are involved in the specialty areas of audio, vision, lighting, rigging, technical and graphics and signage.

 

 

 

Sales & Event Planning

Our sales team works in the areas of International and National Conventions and Corporate Events, Exhibitions and Entertainment Events. Members of the Sales Teams are responsible for the area of research, business development and securing events from the local, national and international markets.

 

Our Event Planning team works closely with BCEC clients in the detailed planning and preparation of all events working towards outcomes for clients beyond expectations. Members of the team act as a direct point of contact for clients in liaising with other internal departments.

 

Housekeeping

The presentation of the Centre and the comfort and convenience of guests is paramount. The Centre’s housekeeping staff is responsible for both back and front of house cleanliness and appearance.

 

Room Sets

These staff members attend to room set-ups, delivering and setting up tables, furniture, stages and dance floors, building shell schemes for exhibitions and readying the Great Hall for sporting and entertainment events.
 

Car Park

Our car park staff operate the exit booths and conduct traffic control during peak periods.
 

Finance

The Finance Department keeps the business side of the Centre functioning and ensures the Centre complies with its business and legal obligations. Finance is responsible for control of the building’s assets, purchasing, payroll, staff rostering and information technology.
 

Security

Our security staff ensures the safety and security of staff and visitors to the Centre as well as securing the building and its contents.
 

Building Services

Our team of tradesmen and assistants ensures our building, plant and equipment is in top working condition.
 

Human Resources

The Human Resources Department is responsible for all areas of human resource management including recruitment, learning and development, employee relations and industrial relations and has the responsibility of management of the uniform room. Our RTO operation is also managed from this area.
 

Ushers & Ticket Sellers

Our ushers and ticket sellers  sell and check entry tickets to shows and exhibitions, as well as assisting with concert seating.
 

Marketing

The Marketing Department’s role is to create a strong, positive image and profile of the BCEC both externally and internally and involves a number of activities including all forms of communication, publicity, promotion, trade shows, hosted events, site inspections and media and public relations.
