‘Industry Award the Icing on the Cake for the Centre’s performance’

The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre last night was named Best Function / Convention Centre Caterer at the Australian Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence gala presentation event in Adelaide.

This latest award brings to an impressive 36 the Centre’s total number of catering awards and 98 industry awards overall.

The Centre has earned a worldwide reputation for its contemporary cuisine and restaurant style presentation, with its team of internationally trained chefs preparing an average of one million meals each year.

Convention Centre General Manager, Robert O’Keeffe said this latest achievement in the national restaurant and catering arena was further testimony to the passion and innovation of the Centre’s team of talented chefs.

This latest national recognition is ‘the icing on the cake’ of the recent successful launch of the Centre’s new menus and new food presentation styles,” he said.

Mr O’Keeffe said the award is at the very heart of the Centre’s operational reputation and provides an important showcase for Brisbane’s appeal as a world class events destination. It also provides high profile recognition of the standards of industry leadership and professional performance to which the Centre’s Food & Beverage Team, together with all members of the staff, had committed themselves.

“The quality and standards of delivery of the Centre’s Food & Beverage product over many years has been a significant factor in the Centre maintaining its leadership position in what is a very competitive marketplace,” Mr O’Keeffe said.

Mr O’Keeffe said the national award win follows a year of high profile activity with the Centre confirming record numbers of national and international convention bid wins for Brisbane and the Centre.
