Catering accolades for Brisbane Convention & Exhibtition Centre
19 Sep 2011
The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) has added to its catering achievements by taking out two of the major categories at this year’s Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence for the South East Queensland Region.
The Centre won Best Function/Convention Centre Caterer and was named overall Caterer of the Year 2011 for the Brisbane/Darling Downs Region, bringing the Centre’s total catering awards to an impressive 54.
The Centre will now head to the National Restaurant & Catering Awards in Sydney in October when it will defend its currently held title of Australia’s Best Function/Convention Centre Caterer.
Led by BCEC’s Food & Beverage Director, Kevin Gulliver and Executive Chef, Martin Latter, the ongoing achievements and acknowledgements of the Centre’s catering performance and product are indicative of uncompromised consistency and quality and also recognition of a number of recent culinary accomplishments.
BCEC were the only convention centre in the world to compete in the internationally famous Bocuse d’Or cooking competition in Lyon, France in February and was voted the world’s best caterer in a recent international client survey of convention centres (AIPC 2010).
BCEC which is operated by leading international venue management group, AEG Ogden, has earned an international reputation for innovation, individuality and quality when it comes to catering.
Convention Centre General Manager, Bob O’Keeffe said the strong performance is a consequence of an unswerving commitment to quality, creativity and sustainability and the passion and dedication of the Centre’s in house Food & Beverage Team.
“The Centre’s food philosophy is built around the culture and practices of sourcing and showcasing our local seasonal produce, together with a scrupulous commitment to the highest culinary standards and practice,” he said.
