We are almost there

Our journey to deliver to Queenslanders the much awaited expansion of our convention facilities – BCEC on Grey Street – is almost over!

Along the way, we have survived Brisbane’s great flood of 2011 together with a few other minor distractions, but I am pleased to let you know that we are on the home straight!

We are hopeful of having our brand new building for commissioning towards the end of the year, prior to hosting our debut events in the New Year, in what will be Australia’s newest and most flexible meetings and events venue.

With 20 additional meetings and event spaces including two tiered auditoria for 400 and 600 we will have the capability to host events of every description, size and complexity – just ask us!

As you drive or walk along South Bank’s Grey St you will see the dramatically stunning glass facade which has now been fully revealed. In fact 85% of the building’s facade is glass which allows natural light throughout the entire building, engaging with the river and the city and the South Bank landscape.

We applaud the clever design which makes natural light a dominant characteristic of the development, with an artistically designed skylight as a focal feature together with the impressively spacious open foyer areas including 3,000 sq metres of foyer space on the Plaza Level alone – the interconnecting level between the existing building and BCEC on Grey St.
 
The expansion and addition to our existing facilities creates significant growth and development opportunities for Brisbane and lucrative business events sector.

But we believe it achieves more than that; we are providing opportunities for showcasing Brisbane’s strengths and innovations on the world stage and for knowledge sharing at the very highest levels.

We have hosted a number of hard hat site inspections for many international and national meeting organisers who have been impressed with the amazing flexibility of the venue’s boutique facilities.

All of us here at the Centre are looking forward to introducing you to this brand new, eye catching venue with enhanced facilities and services and we invite you all to join with us on this last leg of what has been a very invigorating journey.
