A new look for BCEC’s iconic Great Hall - Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre

Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre’s iconic Great Hall has undergone a major refurbishment.

Renowned for its unique flexibility with raise-able seating, the 4,000 seat tiered auditorium has been home to many high profile conventions, award presentations and has hosted international concert acts and an impressive line-up of celebrity speakers and performers.

The $1.5 million makeover includes new tiered seating, carpets and lighting, offering a colour palette in warm and muted hues of purple with fuchsia and grape tonings adding new vibe to this exciting space.

The most popularly occupied space within the BCEC, the Great Hall has bookings right through to 2029.

BCEC Director of Operations, Geoff Hanrahan worked with Carly Perkins of Perkins Design on the refurbishment to provide a fresh look and new offering, to engage and meet the demands of our clients and guests.

The plush new ambience of the space has already been favourably received by guests and organisers.

From the very beginning of this project, a key concern was reducing the environmental impact of such an exercise. The Centre’s Cleaning and Environmental Services Manager, Paul Wilson oversaw this part of the project which resulted in 19 tonnes of plastic chair parts being recycled along with one and a half kilometres of aluminium.

The refurbishment comes as the Centre is celebrating a milestone – 20 years of hosting successful events of the standard of the 2014 G20 Leaders Summit, voted ‘best ever.’

BCEC General Manager, Bob O’Keeffe said the high standards of presentation and performance were essential in today’s highly competitive business events market.
