Major Green Initiatives

⇒ Retro fit of the Centre’s escalators to sensor mode resulting in 30% reduction in escalator energy usage

⇒ An Organic Waste Dehydrator to handle organic waste generated by the Centre. The dehydrator turns 100kg of waste into 10 kg of biomass similar in properties to dynamic lifter or blood and bone.

⇒ The Centre is an official QLD FluoroCycle Signatory. FluoroCycle is part of the National Waste Policy which seeks to increase the national recycling rate of waste mercury-containing lamps.

⇒ Recycled water is used to clean the facility’s roof, approx. 37,500m2.  The process of blocking storm water drains and redirecting water to collection containers recycles 170,000L for reuse and preventing pollution from entering the storm water system

Future Goals

The Centre is proud to participate in AEG 1EARTH, AEG’s corporate environmental sustainability program which tracks our environmental performance on energy and water consumption, waste diversion and contributes towards 2020 Environmental Goals.
