The world of medicine and science went under the microscope last week at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC).

Some 2,000 delegates attended six conferences during a busy 10 day period, with topics of discussion covering everything from cancer prevention, medical imaging and radio therapy, critical care nursing, vaccine development and immunotherapeutics.

The conferences were part of a busy agenda of a total of 28 events during the 10 days.

Two of the conferences were convened by BCEC Convention Advocates.

Foundation Advocate, Professor Jeff Dunn, CEO of Cancer Council Queensland hosted Pacific Cancer Leaders’ Summit and Asia Pacific Organisation for Cancer Prevention (APOCP) 2016 focussing on cancer prevention and control.

While fellow Advocate, Professor Rajiv Khanna, Director of QIMR Berghofer’s Centre for Immunotherapy and Vaccine Development (CIVD), chaired the local organising committee of the 6th Australasian Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics Development Meeting.

A repeat event for BCEC, this meeting provides unique opportunities for young investigators to interact with experienced researchers working in the fields of cancer, infectious diseases and autoimmunity.

BCEC is now heading into an extremely busy period until the end of the financial year with more than 200 events on the calendar including 26 conferences.
