Following the meeting of the National Cabinet and the direction of the Prime Minister and Australia’s Chief Medical Officer on Wednesday 18 March, to cancel all non-essential mass indoor gatherings with attendances of 100 or more, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) remains open for smaller sized events and meetings which are already booked at the Centre.
We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves and review in accordance with advice from the Federal Government, Australia’s Chief Medical Officer and the Queensland Government.
This is a challenging time for all of us and the safety and welfare of our guests, clients and team members and their families has always been of paramount importance and remains our top priority.
We have been working closely with all clients of upcoming events for a number of weeks now to help find solutions and assist in any way we are able.
Events currently listed on our website’s What’s On page are being updated as information is confirmed.
If you have any questions or concerns about an event you are attending at BCEC please contact your event organiser.
FOR EVENT ORGANISERS
Please contact your BCEC Event Planning Manager if you have any questions or concerns about an event.
BCEC is following all advice and guidelines from the Australian Government Department of Health and the Queensland’s Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeannette Young, with regards to preventing the spread of the virus and communicating to all patrons and visitors.
In line with this advice we have put in place comprehensive hygiene measures including placing hand sanitisers throughout the building and increasing our regime of sterilising surfaces and public touch points.
Hygiene instructions are posted in locations throughout the Centre including on the Centre’s digital signage system.
We are continuing to advise all organisers to follow Australian Government Department of Health guidelines to ensure their delegates, exhibitors and speakers who have recently returned from overseas or been in contact with a confirmed case of novel coronavirus do not attend events.
